Vision

There is extensive transport research funded by public authorities, companies, charities, and international organisations such as the European Commission via the Horizon Europe programme.

However, in many research programmes, Human Factors issues often do not receive the attention they deserve, despite being crucial for ensuring the acceptability, usability, and safety of technology design, as well as for enhancing user experience and promoting sustainability.

Our vision is to contribute to the international research agenda on Human Factors in Transport by advancing a safer and more resilient transportation system. We aim to pioneer research that deepens understanding of how humans behave, think, and interact with transport technologies and environments. We envision a future where vehicles and transport systems are proactively shaped by evidence-based insights into human needs, capabilities and performance, leading to inclusive, intuitive, sustainable and error-tolerant systems that protect all transport users and operators.
